How to Read Cuspal Charts vs Rasi Charts for Spotless Accuracy

Rasi Chart vs Cuspal Chart

Rasi charts divide the zodiac into 12 equal signs, while Cuspal charts (Placidus system) divide it based on the exact coordinates of the birthplace.

  • Rasi Chart Uses Equal Signs: Assuming each house starts at 0 degrees and ends at 30 degrees.
  • Placidus Mathematical Cusps: Maps the exact degree of the horizon, resulting in unequal house sizes.
  • Planetary House Shifts: Planets can shift to adjacent houses in the Cuspal chart, changing predictions.

Predicting solely from a Rasi chart is the primary cause of failed astrological forecasts.

The Illusion of the Rasi Chart

The Rasi chart (D1) shows the placement of planets in zodiac signs, which is excellent for general characteristics. However, for predicting the actual execution of events (which house a planet operates in), the Cuspal Chart (Nirayana Bhava Chalit) is the only reliable source.

Why Placidus Cusp System is More Accurate

In high latitudes or due to the Earth's tilt, houses are rarely exactly 30 degrees. The Placidus system calculates the exact intersection of the houses. A planet placed in the 5th sign can actually fall in the 4th house cusp, changing its prediction completely.

Case Study: Planet Shift between Houses

Consider a chart where Jupiter is in the 11th sign (Aquarius) but mathematically falls in the 10th house cusp. A Rasi-based astrologer will predict gains (11th), but in reality, the native will experience professional focus (10th). KP Astrology resolves this disparity.
